Registering with NPIScope.com is free and provides access to our comprehensive dashboards for both NPI and CLIA records. This includes extensive search results for CLIA numbers by NPI. On the NPI Dashboard, you'll have easy access to CMS CPT coding, prescription data, and an expansive Open Payments dashboard, offering a multi-year view of Open Payments data for the caregiver or company you select. NPIScope.com will never share your email with a 3rd party.
Our NPI database is updated once NPPES releases their monthly update. Additionally, we collect update requests through our contact us form, and once the information has been verified, an update will be made to that specific NPI page. CLIA information is gathered directly from CMS at the time of your search. CMS is in control and responsible for updating and maintaining the CLIA data set.
All NPI numbers and general information are collected from the NPPES NPI Registry. Additional information is researched online by our staff or submitted to us through our contact page.

All healthcare providers who are HIPAA covered entities are required to obtain an NPI. This includes physicians, dentists, nurses, chiropractors, pharmacists, physical therapists, and other healthcare providers.
Yes, NPI numbers are public information. The NPI registry is a database of healthcare providers who have been issued an NPI. It is maintained by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The NPI registry is used by medical sales professionals to search for their clients’ information, such as contact details, specialties, and services offered.
The NPI record includes the healthcare provider’s name, address, phone number, specialty, and services offered.
You can update your NPI information online through the National Plan and Provider Enumeration System (NPPES) website. You will need to provide information such as your name, address, phone number, and specialty. The application process is free and takes about 15 minutes. It is important to keep your NPI information accurate and up-to-date.
An NPI is a unique 10-digit identification number issued to healthcare providers in the United States by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). A CLIA number is a unique 10-digit identification number issued to healthcare providers by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
CLIA stands for Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments. CLIA is a set of federal regulations in the United States that govern the quality standards for laboratory testing performed on human specimens, including diagnostic tests and screening tests. The regulations are administered by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
The purpose of CLIA is to ensure the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of laboratory testing results. It aims to protect patients by setting standards for laboratory testing quality, personnel qualifications, proficiency testing, quality control, and laboratory inspections.
CLIA applies to any laboratory that performs testing on human specimens for health assessment or the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of disease. This includes a wide range of laboratory settings, such as hospitals, clinics, physician offices, and independent laboratories.

CLIA categorizes laboratories into different certificate levels based on the complexity of testing they perform. The three main levels are:

  • Certificate of Waiver : This certificate is issued to a laboratory to perform only waived tests.

  • Certificate for PPMP (Provider-Performed Microscopy Procedures): This certificate is issued to a laboratory in which a physician, midlevel practitioner or dentist performs no tests other than the microscopy procedures. This certificate permits the laboratory to also perform waived tests.

  • Certificate of Registration: This certificate is issued to a laboratory that enables the entity to conduct moderate or high complexity laboratory testing or both until the entity is determined by survey to be in compliance with the CLIA regulations.

  • Certificate of Compliance: This certificate is issued to a laboratory after an inspection that finds the laboratory to be in compliance with all applicable CLIA requirements.

  • Certificate of Accreditation: This is a certificate that is issued to a laboratory on the basis of the laboratory's accreditation by an accreditation organization approved by CMS.
